Since the start of 2019, Endúr Maritime AS and Evidi have worked together to lift and improve the maritime services of Endúr. From gathering three companies in one database, to rising from Microsoft Business Central on-premise to the latest SaaS offering, Endúr has undergone a digital transformation. The collaboration has placed Endúr Maritime ahead of the digital wave in the maritime industry and prepares them to be better equipped to meet future challenges.
Endúr Maritime is part of Endúr ASA, and has broad expertise and experience in ship technical maintenance on complex ships, and operates with services on different types of vessels for both military and civilian maritime customers. Endúr Maritime has over several decades established close relationships with several important maritime companies in Western Norway, and is continuously looking for new ideas, solutions, people and opportunities.
When the journey with Evidi began, the different units in Endúr ASA operated in isolation, and needed to create a more coordinated operation and a unified process landscape. The first phase of the collaboration with Evidi involved bringing together the three companies in Endúr ASA that chose the Business Central solution in one database. At the same time, Endúr underwent extensive internal changes.
Before upgrading to Business Central (on-premise), Endúr relied on many offline processes. These were gradually digitized and consolidated in the new solution, including with the help of Evidi-Project. Digitalization contributes to Endúr Maritime now streamlining work processes and reducing manual work. Another milestone in the collaboration was the development of the Evidi app Protime. The app was developed to solve specific challenges related to timekeeping, and Endúr Maritime was an important contributor in its design.
Protime has become an invaluable resource for us, helping to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Arvid Vestgård, CTO, Endúr Maritime AS
At our breakfast seminar in Bergen on March 12, 2024, Arvid Vestgård, CTO of Endúr Maritime, participated as a speaker, and talked about Endúr Maritime's journey from Business Central on-prem to cloud-based solution. He shared that the basis for their choice to go for Business Central was that the solution fit with their business needs and goals.
Business Central helps provide accurate and fast information about ongoing projects and gives us better control over reporting. In many cases, we find that additional orders are larger than the project was initially, and having full control is therefore extra important, says Arvid.
Arvid says that some of the results and benefits they have achieved after the collaboration with Evidi are smoother reporting, improved project management, easier access to data, increased flexibility, scalability and accessibility. Endúr Maritime now has access to critical information to the ERP system from any device anywhere. Considering the worldview, Arvid also mentions that safety and sustainability are focus areas that are becoming increasingly relevant to their business.

Towards the end of 2022, Endúr Maritime gradually migrated to Microsoft Business Central SaaS Standard, built on a solid foundation from previous upgrades and digitization of manual processes. Finance Manager at Endúr Maritime, Brage Hoff-Engebretsen, says that Endúr Maritime has deliberately chosen to be a little hesitant about the approach of new things, as they want things to settle in the market first.
In the migration process to the SaaS solution, planning, testing and deployment were carefully carried out, to ensure a smooth transition to new systems. We had plenty of time to clarify expectations for the process, time spent and costs, set aside resources to carry out testing and be sure that all affected employees were well informed. It was worth the wait, and we are glad that we did not rush into this, says Brage Hoff-Engebretsen, CFO, Endúr Maritime AS.
By keeping the system as close to standard as possible, Endúr experiences seamless updates and access to new features. After the upgrade to BC SaaS, Endúr Maritime notices a significant difference in the speed and update process. Today, they use Microsoft Business Central SaaS Standard, supplemented with Evidi's industry-standard solutions, including Project, Protime, Protools, and Proinsights. This holistic approach has led to increased efficiency and productivity at Endúr, while reducing the need for customizations and tailor-made solutions.
James Dean, Project Manager, Consultant Trude Haugen and Jarle Rykkje, Team Manager at Evidi, have followed the journey of Endúr Maritime from the start, and have been key contributors to ensuring a seamless transition to the cloud. For them as a team, being able to take part in the transformation has been both rewarding and motivating.
It has been inspiring to follow Endúr Maritime on this digitalization journey. Their transformation to the cloud illustrates the power of purposeful collaboration. By adopting Microsoft Business Central SaaS and our industry-standard solutions, we have seen impressive efficiencies and operational agility materialize, says James.
Endúr Maritime's journey with Evidi is an example of successful digital transformation in the maritime industry. Through close collaboration and a targeted approach, Endúr Maritime has achieved significant gains in efficiency, cost reduction and operational agility. The collaboration continues to bear fruit, setting the stage for further success in the future. With Microsoft Business Central SaaS and Evidi's industry-standard solutions, Endúr Maritime has put itself at the forefront of the industry's wave of digitalization and stands ready to meet future challenges with confidence and strength.
